he should put in tackles, get the ball and look for a pass. Whether Carrick is up to this or not is another point.

THe English system is for the holding player to get the ball and play it simple to the more creative players in the team. Whereas a more European style (some would say more technical) allows the holding player to be just as creative, if not more so as it gives time for the more attacking players to get into better postions
