but I guess the point is that it's a slightly different role

in that, say, Davids, Tainu (sp?) and Jenas do more tackling / closing down than Gerrard, Lampard and Becks will.

So for Spurs he's a bit freer to step off and spray the ball around than we would want him to be for England - where we want the holding player to close down opposing players and get a foot in.

Dunno if that's true, just a thought.
