....does complicate it a bit. You are right though, It isn't worth having and I have hated being stuffed in the Premiership the past two times. Only really under Lambert were we vaguely competitive and that is 10 years + gone now. That said of course for the players it is worth achieving and rightly. Everyone wants (or should want) to achieve the highest standard they can in life, so from their perspective they maybe can be sold on as squad backup for the likes of Everton (Godfrey) or Newcastle (Jacob Murphy + Lewis) with occasional higher flyers (Maddison)

From our current perspective I think some 'fans' ideally want to see us ending 7th or 8th whilst playing some level of 'Farkeball' without ever looking in danger of relegation. Football isn't like that.... We also want to see Ipswich stay in League 1 for perpetuity - it isn't like that either. They are coming back up this season as it looks like they are the best team in that League (just as we were in 2009/10). Just gotta get used to the new reality.
