Working this puzzle out will be pretty key to our season.

Objectively, Pukki is the more capable all round player, no doubt, and obviously his track record is incredible.

But the champs is so physical these days, and since we're no longer playing Farke ball, utterly dominating possession with Emi to pick the lock, we are more often in need of an "out" ball. Sarge's physicality does bring something to the team that is otherwise missing if we go with Pukki, especially if we're picking players like Dowell and Sinani around him. Who is going to do the dirty work from that attacking unit. And in some of those crap early games, it just felt like there were times when we just couldn't get a foothold, and couldn't get Pukki in the game at all.

I think Smith will, when he has people fit, at least consider something like the Pukki-Idah combo that worked so well. Big, mobile unit, plus elusive tricky runner, gives the opposition all sorts of problems to deal with, not just one kind of problem.
