Thanks all - will do some research on pub locations. Any good places to eat?

Intend to stay fairly central so some of the more outskirts pubs (including Fat and Canary) are probably ruled out unfortunately.

Also it will be real ale based so those advocating cherry flavoured refreshments are going to be disappointed!
