risk/reward.

I don't understand why being a top 26 club is seen as a bad thing.

While we talk about % chances of success we need to talk about the risks that go with failure.

Lets look at a reasonably successful club who are about our size and have been pretty well PL established for a Few years.
Southampton
They were just sold but had 100M+ of debt on the books, this after selling a huge number of players for vast sums.
It would be impossible for a self funding club to carry that much debt.
Look at other clubs who were OK with carrying huge debts because of "Rich owners"
Porstmouth, Wigan, Bolton, Ipswich, Sunderland, Derby, Sheff Wed......The list goes on.

There is no guarantee rich owners wont walk away leaving a huge mess because of massive wages and out of control spending.

Surely its better to have a club that will always be here because of fiscal responsibility.
