Listening and nodding, talking about some of the good times with her mum, making her a nice cup of tea and biscuits, does she need help financially and the support of outsiders that you can help her navigate the paperwork etc - it sounds like you are already being a great help though you big blubbing girl
Hope she sees some light at the end of the tunnel soon
