Ok. For what reason? Why would football pundits be

Intentionally trying to cause offence by deliberately referencing 'the' holocaust instead of 'a' holocaust?

Obviously it's a piss poor choice of words but a good percentage of ex footballers on the radio often use the wrong words, or revert to obvious and well trodden soundbites. They aren't all university educated masters of the English language and public speaking.

They just have to say stuff, fill airtime, mostly on the spot.
