I don't think anyone would argue that DF is not a thoroughly decent bloke

He was also an excellent manager/head coach in the Championship but his record in the Premier League is simply awful. Add to this the fact that he refused to play Gilmour and Cantwell, who will unquestionably both be in the team to be picked by the new boss against Southampton, and the justification for his dismissal needs to go no further. It will have cost a few million to bring Gilmour in on loan (a world class player according to the pundits) and the reduction in Cantwell's value should he still want to leave in January would be catastrophic if he remained confined to the U-23's. I am sure Daniel Farke will soon happily be back in action for a decent Club in the German League and I have no doubt that we all wish him well.
