England drew and lost their first two games so their third was meaningless. Daft.

Got it right in 84 though - semi-finals introduced and France v Portugal was one of the greatest international games ever (but wasn't broadcast live in the UK 🙈).

One more thing... up until 1976, the top eight teams went in to home and away quarter finals with only the semis and final in one country.
