NBTTT 24 team tournaments

Carrying on from last night...

There were 24 teams in a tournament for the first time at the, World Cup in 1982 - and this only changed in 1994.

The difference with '82 was that only the top two went through and there were then four more groups of three teams, the winners of which went to the semis.

England totally lucked out though. Won their group and had to play France and West Germany next, while France, who we beat, got N Ireland and Austria.
