I think there is a bit of revisionism here

Maddison was just as good for us as Buendia has been in the Championship. He would have got a dozen more assists if he had a striker with the movement of Pukki ahead of him.

I don't think there is much between them ability wise. We know that Buendia works well with Pukki (at least in the Champ), whereas Maddison might have to adapt his game more. But then Maddison doesn't lose you two games a season by getting sent off, and then missing more through suspension.

It's a close call, imo.
