My mum actually won a car once, admittedly a Vauxhall Nova.

It was a prize draw number in the front of Woman’s Weekly. I remember her ringing us up at work and saying “ now I know you think I’m stupid but I think I’ve won a car!”. So we all rang the phone number and paid the £2 call charge and sure enough she had won.
Duly collected the Nova from thurlow nunn in dereham and sold it that week.
Mum felt guilty because strictly speaking it was her aunt’s subscription to the magazine but she was in a home with dementia.
The following year mum won a year’s use of a brand new Discovery, courtesy of a prize draw at the Norfolk Show
