When we restored our house we did a small extension to make the kitchen bigger
Extension covered a manhole in the garden
Day 1, the foreman hoiks open the manhole and finds himself staring down a well. Only about 15-20 foot deep, top half brick lined, bottom goes into a layer of sandstone.
Long story short, we put lighting in and glassed over the top and now you can sit in our kitchen and look down the well! The dogs hate it and won’t walk over the glass. The water is delicious, lovely and soft.
