Our best-ever top-flight defensive season was 1989-90; 42 conceded in 38 games. That unit was Gunn, Culverhouse, Linighan, Butterworth & Bowen, with Townsend, Sherwood & Crook backing up.
As last season ranked only 26th in defensive solidity then conceding goals this season should not be any surprise.
