Reducing capacity required to create more space
Replacement of the City stand would require some sort of rehousing solution for all their season ticket holders and would vastly reduce capacity for at least two seasons. The politics of prioritising any season ticket holders over others would be horrible. This isn't an easy issue to resolve. It would also almost certain mean no casual tickets for two seasons.
Of course, you could hot desk the season tickets and basically allocate two people per seat and you only get to see half the games but that's not ideal.
Without relocating the entire stadium, this is the type of issue you need to overcome before any significant uplift. (Unless someone has a great idea?)
I'd love to keep the view of the City (cathedral spire) somehow - would be a shame to lose that. If we can stack another stand on top of the Jarrold, wouldn't that be best?
I would also expect increased requirements (or hopefully proactive effort) to improve disabled areas. I wince every time people leave early and a stream of people block the view for the guys and gals sat in wheelchairs in the bottom row of the South Stand. Surely we can do better for them, even if they want to remain close to the action.
Personally, if we are going to do work on the ground, I would love (LOVE) them to work out a better solution for the end roofs, and get rid of those horrendous pillars that must partially block hundreds of seats around the ground.
