Fewer

For individuals it will cost more than it would have if they’d just kept the existing system which had been working well including in the Prem. The more games you go to the better it works out of course.

For families it’s a disaster and for those who travel together it’s not great either.

The club will lose the active support (by which I mean going to games support) of families with children meaning those children will grow up less engaged with the club. Of those only able to make a few games each season only the better off will be shelling out their £100 Fan Tax.

While we are in the Prem this doesn’t matter short term as there will be plenty of demand for tickets. Long term any club should be looking to build engagement with families and young supporters not put them off. If we ever drop to League One again who do you think will come and support the team? It’ll be those same kids, having grown up.

When we’re back down again (as we clearly will be at some point) the club may well regret their actions. Particularly if they seek once more to reach out to the fan base for financial support. We’ve always come through for the club in the past. If this is how they respond when we get up, I imagine they can expect significantly less support next time they come round with a hat.
