....is that it largely removes the 'meaningless friendlies' that so many people complain about. The slots previously used for those are replaced with Nations League games - which as mr carra says, are both 'competitive', and largely between teams between teams of a similar level, because of the seeding.

We will, though, still get the 'tedious mismatches' mr carra mentioned when we get to the euro qualifiers later this year.
