They have the power to

influence and act as role models, especially to the younger sufferers who often see their own mental frailties as something to keep hidden for fear of ridicule or worse. Yes, some 'celebs' might just be involved to boost their own egos, but like our own beloved team who work (often unheralded) on community projects for the young, sick or disabled, the vast majority should be praised for any such efforts - not reviled, insulted and told their efforts are unwanted.
