Pricing is certainly worse since the X series (although Samsung are as guilty). I guess it

is just a change in the business model. They know people upgrade less often since the TelCos stopped subsidising devices, and iOS will never the market leading OS simple because only one manufacturer uses it, so now they are sacrificing volume for gross margin per unit.

That's how it seems at least
