I think he'd be an expensive risk

What is his attitude like? He strikes me as a player who once had high ambition, but now realises that he'll be hauling himself around the Championship for the rest of his career. He's never going to win anything, he's not going to get that dream move to a Massive Club(tm), he's never going to play in the Best League In The World(tm). So he's marking time, trying to get some mug to give him another 5 year contract at £40k per week, at which point he'll get his feet up on the desk and do the bare minimum to get by.

At least, that's what i see. Maybe he's actually hungry as f**k for success.
