The one part which tells me it's unlikely, is that Sheff Wed are offloading their high

earners. I'd be very surprised if we signed a player like him on a wage level he is quite clearly on, while at the same time are still paying the price (literally) from making similar gambles with players like Jarvis and Naismith.

From a footballing point of view, I'd be happy with it, but as Simon states it kind of goes against what we are trying to do with wage bill reduction. As soon as you sign one high earner, then you risk upsetting the rest of the squad especially if he doesn't perform well.

I think for the sake of unity in the squad, if you've made your philosophy of lowering the wage bill central, and (hopefully) convinced some senior players to take lower wages when negotiating contract extensions because of that, then signing a guy on a high salary would be a slap in the face, and could damage the buy-in to "the project" within the squad.
