Because a) despite your reservations, recruitment is a vast improvement over the McNally

era. There are finally signs that someone is doing something on that front, looking away from the beaten track for affordable bargains.

b) separating short-term footballing matters from the long term strategy is overdue. Given their short shelf-life, an old-style manager has the motivation to look further ahead than the end of the current season. It also makes changing the personnel in those two roles less disruptive.

c) The emphasis on the Academy. While we will always be a selling club, and losing our most talented and exciting players always hurts, it would be great to see kids coming through.

d) Importing football ideas from other countries. Whether or not Farke is the right choice for us in the long term, it's good to expose Webber to his ideas.
