what does it achieve?

Well I've lost count of the number of posts recently complaining about only having one striker, so it plugs an immediate gap.

I have read countless threads over the years bemoaning panic/rushed purchases in January/end of transfer windows.

If the price of Webber/Farke/whoever it is taking their time to identify and secure a good, affordable long term solution is that we make do with a loan now, then so be it.

Clearly the ideal scenario is to secure and slot in a permanent solution, but we are not awash with money and cannot afford an RVW type mistake in such a key position.
