Agreed. And (no spoilers) I'm really not sure about Emilia Clarke either.

Her performance is very monotone/single-faceted for me. Maybe that's intentional characterisation; I don't know her other work at all so I can't say if she shows more range in other contexts.

Certainly compared with the likes of Diana Rigg, Lena Headey, Charles Dance, Gwen Christie, Peter Dinklage - but also the kids like Maisie Williams, Sophie Turner and Jack Gleeson - she doesn't convey the same range of emotion or thought in such subtle ways as any of those (even people with minor parts like Nat Tena/Osha did better, for me).
