I've always wondered why Norfolk didn't become a First Class cricket club.

They were considered a top team in the early days of modern cricket.

I'm guessing it was partly due to the snobbishness of the amateurs towards the professionals. It's strange and and annoying that Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambs and Lincs don't have a First Class team between them.
