At the moment, people are responding in a very admirable and decent way, but when faced with a real and continuing source of danger, one needs to fight back and protect oneself. It is the basic function of government, but I suspect a truth that is lost on many people, and in particular the young. Thus the notion, amongst others, that it would somehow be alright to have Corbyn and Abbott (vociferous in their support of the IRA for example) as PM and Home Secretary, at a time of serious risk.
