has an impact because its leading up to a general election in this country. I agree it probably won't have a huge impact on the ultimate outcome of the negotiations themselves but if May has her domestic position weakened now as a result of the general election then that probably weakens her hands going into the negotiations.

More than anything though this press posturing by both sides is for the benefit of domestic audiences and both sides will have to compromise during negotiations except some don't seem to get that.
