Yeah your chip time might be discredited/invalida ted by the officials...
...but they won't be able to take your medal or commemorative t-shirt back off you plus most runners will have they're own running watch/smartphone app recording their own run data, plus with the size of some fields, that extra bit further back behind the start line that their watches will clock (as they'll start them on the gun) will mean they'll run & record the full distance and maybe a tiny bit more. Anyone that tries to tell you that you didn't run that run or your marathon 'doesn't count' will soon regret uttering those foolish words.
