I agree entirely about the quality of the debate and I think

there has been too much putting down of the other side. We are both entitled to our views on the matter and i am sure we both have reasons for those views which for each of us are equally compelling.

Unfortunately the "campaign" has taken on the form of a general election type campaign which I think is entirely wrong for an issue of this type. Whilst I accept that the government is entitled to take a position on the matter and is entitled to make public that position I think it is wrong that we have the Prime Minister and Chancellor campaigning in the way they are which basically now seems to be "win at all costs." They should be taking a far more responsible line making their view clear, giving people facts (so much has been presented as fact which is blatantly not fact - the Treasury report released (or at least the announcement/headlines that accompanied it) was one of the most disgustingly pieces of deliberately misleading propaganda i think i've ever seen) but then stepping back on the basis that whatever the British people decide they are the ones who will be charged with implementing it.
