Last night's discussion on the EU

Interesting to see and missed it as was watching "Question Time" where actually I thought that one person who spoke extremely well on the issue was Alec Salmond. I don't agree with him on a lot of things but when I see him speak I am always impressed with how he puts his views across and I can see why he and Sturgeon (perhaps free from the baggage of being part of a major political party and due to having a clear mission to their politics) have garnered so much support in Scotland in recent years.

What he said based on his Scottish referendum experience, and with which I agree, is that people should vote in referendums such as this primarily based on what they believe and on matters of principle and should disregard most of the bluster and fearmongering on both sides. I believe that too. My own belief is that economically we will be ok whichever decision is taken although I also slightly despair that we appear to have reached a situation where economic considerations govern our every decision when there are fundamental questions of democracy and sovereignty at stake.

I'm on record on here as being an "outer." As the political persuasions on this board are generally left of centre i'm not surprised that there appear to be more inners than outers. Each to their own but I think the suggestion that there have been no constructive arguments put forward by the out side is wrong, they may have been shouted down or not put as well as they could have been but when you break it down to the fundamental principles I believe the case for out is far stronger than in.
