I think his (and his mate's) actions on that night, whether or not they were illegal, were contemptible.

If the fresh evidence results in an aquittal then fine.

But until that verdict comes through from a jury that has heard the new evidence, my view (based on all the information that is publically available) remains that the original jury's decision was the correct one based on our rape laws.

And to be honest I'm never going to change my view that men going out looking for drunk girls to shag in the early hours are anything other than thoroughly dishonourable individuals deserving of contempt. YMMV.
