I think you're right, but it doesn't have to be the case

it isn't really necessary to operate a football club on a capitalist model like supply and demand. They could actually set a price which strikes a balance between supporting running costs and remaining an integral part of the community.

Rather than basically pricing out a large percentage of fans.
