I think the problem is we are running out of people to "keep the faith" in
If Neil does not work out. Not saying it won't but what yesterday was was the starkest reminder possible that we have taken another big risk here and it came in the game where we really could not afford it to happen if we still harbour any serious aspirations of top two.
In addition it was far, far worse than any of those other sh*t performances all of which contained spells where we were the better side before we shot ourselves in the foot with dreadful defensive errors.
Neil is really the only one left to pin out hopes on. "In Mcnally we trust" is already gone. The rest of he board are clueless when it comes to football matters and we no longer have Holt to lead us on the pitch. Our current captain dishes out sermons on positivity to the fans two days before they play like sh*t.
The silver lining with this squad is that even when playing appallingly we still create good chances and could have got something from the game. With the attacking players we have that will always be the case and with a fully fit team we can win the playoffs if we can get in the top 6 but there is no getting away from the fact yesterday was seriously alarming in terms of the selection, tactics and style of football.
All of which was compounded by me watching Bolton get a good result at Liverpool afterwards looking well drilled and competent. Really all we needed was a manager who could do that with our players this season and their talent would have been enough then to make the difference. We know who that should have been.
