will be interesting to see how he gets on at a club he didn't develop with

his current success is built upon several of years of being part of that team, being one of the lads, actually being out on the pitch, no great pressure to perform, having the fans hero-worshipping him etc. Can he do the same in a new club where no-one really knows him, where the fans are expecting to be challenging for promotion from Day 1?

Can he translate nurturing two young players who he played alongside into nurturing multiple young players, whilst keeping on top of an increased workload?

Does success against big teams as an underdog translate to having the ability to do it with 'the best squad in the league'?

Lambert should be a cautionary tale here - he got the Villa gig largely on the back of having had lots of success with us over three seasons, developing a team, taking some big scalps and big game performances etc. He was expected to perform the same things at Aston Villa, but on a bigger stage with more expectation. Has he pulled it off..?

So, so much about this appointment depends on what the Board announce about him, what expectations they set, how they manage the expectations of the fans now and over the course of the season. It is absolutely critical that the Board gets that right.
