Part of what I love about this appointment is how McNally is putting his neck on the line
He's come in for a bit of stick in the last 12 months, so it would have been easy to make an apparently less risky appointment, Sherwood or someone else that might be considered to be the so called safe option.
If this goes wrong, he could be out of a job, but he's still taking that chance.
All successful business people take risks, calculated risks, but risks none the less. No-one ever achieved anything great by being average or risk averse.
It might go wrong, but whether it does or it doesn't this is exactly the type of risk I'm keen for us to take and exactly the kind of risk our club should be taking.
Realistically, this is pretty much the only way (other than appointing from within) that we will be able to appoint one of the best managers in the country (he might not be of course, but Sherwood, Warnock et al definitely aren't).
Well done NCFC board - good to see some balls from you. Lets hope it works out!
