I agree with you it wasn't a fluke but what it also shows
is a completely different approach to when we appointed Adams.
Lambert and Hughton were the only two times in recent history we have gone and targeted the man we want to take our job. Whilst i have obviously been highly critical of the latter, you could still argue that at the time and for that first season he was what we needed. Lambert was obviously a rip-roaring success.
I expected us in the summer to go and get Lennon in a similar vein, especially once he walked away from Celtic.
The approach with Adams seems to have reverted back to type with the only candidates who were on the short list being either currently out of work or Adams. The only other appointment of that ilk in recent times which has worked was Worthington but even he came to the club from the outside not long before with some vague credentials in coaching/management.
