"We decided we wanted to play 'the Norwich way'"

Well, as per ricardo's report, there we have it. And deciding to play 'the Norwich way' meant, of course, we had to have someone who UNDERSTANDS THE CLUB (as though managing Norwich City is somehow alien to anyone who didn't play here for years first) and someone who BLEEDS GREEN AND YELLOW. Because, as any fule no, the reason we got relegated in 2009 wasn't because Roeder was s**t, or Gunn was s**t, or the club had been mismanaged from the top for years. It was because - as per Roger Munby - Roeder and Grant didn't 'bleed green and yellow'.

That is the thought process of these muppets. That's all it amounts to. Never mind that:

1. If you have a team which plays cautiously and negatively, and whose players aren't suited to glorious expansive football, you can't change the way that team plays overnight;

2. If you're going to try to do that, you'd better make damn sure you've got a proven manager who the players respect and are inspired by and who has had real success playing that kind of football already: a kind of football which is the hardest of any to perfect and succeed with;

3. Playing that way rarely if ever works in this pig of a league. What does work? Bottle, belief, balls, attitude: none of which have ever been Norwich City's forte, with the occasional exception under Saunders or Lambert.

You know why they've brought Phelan in now? Really why? Because if they have to get rid of Adams - and no club with even half a clue would've appointed him in the first place - they have to have someone else who 'understands the club' and 'bleeds green and yellow'. Never mind that Phelan has no managerial experience whatsoever; never mind that no club appointed him as manager after Fergie retired.

It's a joke. There's no analysis at this club; no proper football thinking at all. It's cross your fingers, hope for the best, and learn absolutely nothing. Still: at least they've managed something. Because playing 'the Norwich way' has achieved awfully close to the square root of f**k all throughout our history. And under this shower, that's what we'll be doing again this season too.
