The situation I really don't understand is Lennon

A manager we had been linked with previously and who had left Celtic (so no compo probably) and made public statements practically begging us to offer him the job.

I've heard quite a few rumours that contrary to media reports he was actually sounded out for the job and was up for it. Those rumours may or may not be correct but if not then surely its even more strange if we did not consider him at all?
