It seems that way doesn't it?

How come people have been captain of clubs/countries for years and years but it's only been since Rooney was made Captain that people have started saying "does this make him un droppable for England and United" and on here with Martin "Does this mean he is un droppable" - Apparently Yes.

Never heard it when Terry, Gerrard or Beckham were captains of England yet it's all people can say about Rooney being Captain. Or anyone saying that about Fotheringham (Did we really give the captaincy to him?)
