Could've spent it on actual players we would own. He obviously thought he could make a player better (hence signing Prem youths) but neglected to do that by buying players such as Pilkington, Fox, Elliot Bennett.... players who had been discarded from Prem youth squads and began to make their way lower down the leagues.
