I was against the Iraq war, though not so much against our engagement in Afghanistan

I would support air strikes against I* and limited ground support - not masses of our ground troops, but special forces teams training/assisting local forces.

An "interesting" question on all this is where it leaves our relationship with Syria. Current leader is a c**t. So are all of his prospective replacements though, and hopefully we've learned (or rather the US has) that trying to replace a leader you don't like with one you do isn't really your best bet for a fuller flavour.
