this is the problem

I think most of the players are giving their all so they get pissed off with the crowd reaction. Our failure is not lack of effort but in our approach/tactics. This is why I don't blame the players, but the manager and the board for not sacking him. Having said that, I do think that some of the senior players could take it on themselves to try and get the team going forward more, despite what the manager says.
