Ruddy and Martin
Obviously I don't know what was said to Martin and it appears that it was quite extreme hence why he said on Radio Norfolk that he'd be taking it further but I think by arguing with the fans it shows a lack of understanding regarding how fans feel and its the same at many clubs. Yesterday I witnessed a set of players who didn't give it 100%. Marting can say what he likes but most of those players out there DIDN'T play with a full commitment. Trouble is of course that the Premiership has made them wealthy and most of them will float of to other clubs and earn a big wad elsewhere. Same of course goes for McNally. He earned a considerable sum and probably doesn't have to worry about working again. And for me that's much of the problem. I doubt many of them actually have the same heart felt commitment to NCFC that we all have and in most cases goes back several generations. I don't want to sound like some nostalgic old fart because in many ways football is better now than 40 years ago BUT players like Dave Stringer and Duncan Forbes would never have come out and performed like that yesterday. And to my mind that's what causes the belligerence in the fans but the players don't seem to be able to understand it and the Board reluctant to do anything about it. This has been week in week out, away game after away game when 'the lads didn't turn up'. Well if I don't 'turn up' at work I'd soon lose my job but football is a whole different world where over-hyped mediocre players don't seem to give a toss and still expect to be idolised.
