I'm assuming the DD isn't big, e.g < ?100?

A debt company can't enforce a debt or affect your credit rating. Only the creditor can take legal action (and hire a solicitor to represent them if they wish). The debt agency may call you and even knock on your door, but they're misty messengers. Their powers of action are very small.
