and I think you are grossly overestimating Lamert's abilities.

A lot less of the outcome of football matches is down to managers than we like to think. It is starting to look very much as though Lambert got very (VERY) lucky here for a couple of years, when everything he did happened to work out, which can happen over a relatively short period of time. Let's face it even Worthington looked a top quality manager here for three years but nothing about his career before or since suggests he actually is one.
