For that kind of money you might want to consider a bridge camera

We have this one User Posted Link which is excellent

Shoots full 1080hd video, optical 30x zoom, great at macro.

Only drawback with a bridge camera is the (excellent) lens is fixed - but most people can live with that for 95% of the time I would think
