Aberconwy Conservative MP Guto Bebb said he was ?fuming? at the way last night?s vote was handled.

Mr Bebb said that despite his concerns he had been persuaded to support the Government?s ?watered down? motion but Conservative whips had failed to gauge the deep unease in the party.

He described the whipping operation was an ?absolute disaster from start to finish?.

Mr Bebb was present at two meetings with the prime minister where the Conservative leader sought to cement support for the motion.
