does that make Assad's use of the weapon any less reprehensible?

Clearly there are no longer very many 'good guys' to support in this conflict, but assuming the evidence is there to show that Assad's forces have used this weaponry, we absolutely have a moral (and legal) obligation to do something about it. Governments simply should not be permitted to gas their own people.

Nor should rebel movements - but it's a bit hard to drop cruise missiles on assymetric forces that by their nature melt away into the civilian population.
