Camera is no better than my Samsung S4 Phone.

Get yourself a second hand DLSR and buy a 1.8 50mm lens about ?90 if you want to take portraits or spend a bit more for a tele photo lens.
Like someone said before, It's the lens that make the shot not the camera.
